Please help! I took my husband’s i-phone and found a raunchy picture of him attached to an e-mail to a woman in his sent e-mail file (a Yahoo account). When I approached him about this (I think that he is cheating on me) he admitted that he took the picture but says that he never sent it to anyone. He claims that he went to the Genius Bar at the local Apple store and they told him that it is an i-phone glitch: that photos sometimes automatically attach themselves to an e-mail address and appear in the sent folder, even though no e-mail was ever sent. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? The future of my marriage depends on this answer! 

And the apple forum goers are backing him up!

I suspect it’s happening to the black iPhones as well but nobody can see the cracks and so they don’t care.

The Punch-O-Meter. You grasp the phone (firmly) in your hand, tap the screen, and then give it your best shot. The app uses the phone’s accelerometer to measure how fast you can punch. After each punch, you get a score and a one-to-five-star rating. It is guaranteed to destroy your phone.

Who knew the accelerometer they originally put in the phone just to detect sideways orientation would turn out to actually be really useful?

According to a study by SquareTrade, iPhones are the most reliable mobile phone. They’re the least likely to malfunction, but the most likely to be dropped, because of their slippery case.

I’ve found they can be dropped from quite a height and still be fine, even without a protective case. What’s the highest you’ve dropped your iPhone from and still have had it undamaged?

ZDNet say it’s the US$200 pricetag that made it the winner. The phone is basically free here in Australia, so is it set to be the #1 phone in Australia as well?

The new iPhone firmware (2.2), coming out soon, will let you download new podcast episodes right on your phone & iPod touch. So that means you can keep your iPod touch in your car and have an automatically updated podcast stream.

So that’s essentially a personalised radio station. Pretty awesome. So long as your wifi reaches your garage.

Steve Jobs has previously shrugged off the rumour that Apple will produce a netbook (a cheap, small screened notebook), saying that the iPhone is that netbook. He may be right. What do you think?

Now that’d be nice; to make an iPhone app and have it advertised on TV. Because that’s what Apple have started to do. An ad per app. But only the uber-cool ones. Shown here is the Shazam app ad. The Shazam app recognises which song is playing in the air, so you can then download it from the iTunes music store. Make an app that cool and you too could be a (behind the scenes) TV star?

What’s the cheapest way to own an iPhone? Apparently it’s the $49 Optus plan. Check this out for a great overview of how much it’s gunna cost you in total.

A new improvement via community voting site in the style of the Ubuntu one and the Windows one has been created for the iPhone. What do you want fixed/added the most in the iPhone?

Well, the (insane/creative) folks at OLO Computer have fixed that. Snap your iPhone into this screen/keyboard thing and you’ve got yourself an instant netbook. The iPhone screen is the trackpad mouse. Pretty crazy huh.

InnoPocket sent me two cases in boxes. Wrapped in plastic. In a package. In a larger box. Which was present-wrapped. Which was inside a FedEx box with bubble wrap. Yeah, that’s awesome.

The cases themselves fit around an iPhone, that’s how big they are. You can see them there. The box they sent them in had the FedEx guy wondering why someone had mailed me a small house complete with backyard shed. That was awesome.

After I put in my good half-day undoing the packaging and saw the case, I actually laughed. It’s actually also huge. Why you’d want your phone to be that big, I couldn’t fathom.

So I put it on my phone and gradually the laughing subsided, disappearing completely a few hours later when I happened to drop my phone onto the hard-tiled floor of my house. Win. The inside of the aluminium case is padded- you could jump off so many different things with this cased up phone and the phone would wonder why you’re doing a Mr. Burns style shake of it.

So I left the case on. Up until the point where I wanted to listen to Beck while driving and had to undo the case to plug the phone into the iPod radio-transmitter attachment. And the case has just happened to have remained off since. I may re-sheathe it once I take my phone and embark upon, um, war, perhaps. 

So if you like your phone military-grade shock proof, this is the case for you. If you don’t like your phone military-grade tank size, this isn’t the case for you.

Oh yeah that’s right: iPhone cupcakes. You know you want them.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: that home screen is becoming quite iconic.

So usually I’m not that interested in phones. They’re alright. They’re utility things. You use them to call people. The iPhone happens to have phone functions in it. But now with the appstore, it’s really not just a phone.

I’ve realised why I’m so inspired by the device. It’s a full computer: it easily runs arbitrary programs. It’s futuristic yet practical (i.e. the new touch input method). And it fits right in my pocket. 

And it’s the best in-your-pocket general purpose computer you can get, thus far.

It almost gives us the wonder and magic of computers all over again. And don’t forget kids, computers really are the wonder of the future.
