The advertisment above is in the newest Strathfield catalogue that can be found in todays Herald Sun and on the Strathfield website.
Now…i dont know about you guys…but this looks awfully like the shadow of an iPhone. (if you cant make it out because image from Strathfield website is not as detailed as actual catalogue, you can see the volume buttons and silence switch which is a dead give away)
Also..after searching iPhone on the Strathfield website, a countdown appears with a broken image but countdown clock ticking away
Strathfield is an Optus premium dealer thus confirming the rumors that the iPhone3G will sell in other dealers and not just official Optus World Stores. This obviously only applies to Optus now but im guessing that Vodafone will be following suit.
Check out the ad for yourself. Link
And take a look at the countdown. Link

UPDATE:
As Trips pointed out…if you go to countdown page and then click view source you will see
<META name=”KEYWORDS” content=”Strathfield Car Radios Products Catalogue, Apple iPhone 3G, DVD Players, Recorders, Portable, MPEG-4, amplifiers, dolby digital, Hi Fi, Televisions, AV, 34cm, 51cm, 68cm, 80cm…
This fully confirms that they will be selling the iPhone3G (if we didnt know that already)
Something that i also found interesting is that the countdown countdowns until 12 midnight on the 10th/11th. Does this mean there will be a midnight launch? Only time will tell.

Yeah it is, the other give away is that it you look at the source on that page (right click and select View Source) you see this near the top:
”
<META name=”KEYWORDS” content=”Strathfield Car Radios Products Catalogue, Apple iPhone 3G, DVD Players…”
If you look in the Meta name = KEYWORDS you will see Apple iPhone 3G
So for sure Strathfield will be selling it but i do know that Strathfield can do deals that other resellers can’t do, so wether it will be sold in all other resellers (like Allphones…) is yet to be seen. Lets hope so.
Sorry i should point out that you need to View Source on the Countdown page that was linked in the article and not the Catalogue page
Another interesting thing is that the time it’s counting down to is midnight, wonder if that really means they’ll do a midnight opening and launch on July 11
I’ve heard some Optus stores will be opening from 5:30am-Midnight on the 11th. Personally I think staying open that long is pointless, because if they open that early, they will surely have sold out by hours before midnight. Whether or not they actually are open for that long I can’t confirm, it’s just a rumour.
I really hope my Voda store isn’t open for ridiculous hours like that. I seriously doubt any store will get enough stock to be able to sell them for that long.
Then again TB, iPhone buying and registration is supposed to take a good 15mins instore.
So 15mins processing requests from 5:30AM till 12PM (18.5hrs) = 74 iPhones
(Assuming you have one staff dedicated to iPhones all day)
if you rite click on the countdown and click on forward it says ¨NOW AVAILABLE¨ and has a number to call.
Walked past a Strathfield store today in Bondi Junction and they actually had a picture of the iPhone 3G in store saying coming soon acquire within. Without out a doubt it seems that Optus and Vodafone “resellers” like Strathfield will to sell the iPhone 3G.
Without a doubt Optus and Vodafone resellers will be selling the iphone, eventually. But I think Optus and Vodafone will be waiting to see how much stock they get from Apple. They will probably want to “pool” as much stock as they can into their own stores before they start stocking reseller.
I have a contact that works for the distributors for Optus and they have been informed as part of the distribution requirements for optus that all the initial i-phone allocation has been more than taken by the pre-registration deposits optus were offering and that is why they are not taking them any more -
wotnoiphone: Yeah it was on the news that they had to cancel it because of how many people ordered, it crashed the server
I have a “breaking news flash”
I was fooling around with the countdown timer and I clicked “forward” and it says “Now available call 13 11 77 for your nearest store” Now remembering that this ends at midnight it could be said that there will be a midnight release because at midnight (I presume) It will end and come up with that message and because it says “available now” it’s saying it will be available at midnight.
Guys, keep your eyes peeled, Crazy John will be releasing more information on the iPhone soon.
I just chatted with them and they said they haven´t received any word of pricing from Vodafone but they did say it will be cheaper than Vodafone.
Telstra has released their pricing for the iPhone 3G today. i have only just breezed through it as im at work but see what you think. click the link to go to the official announcement on Telstra’s website - http://www.telstra.com.au/abouttelstra/media/announcements_article.cfm?ObjectID=42817
PLANS:
$30 per month plan
8GB - $279 upfront = $279 + ($30 x 24) = $999
16GB - $399 upfront = $399 + ($30 x 24) = $1119
$0 upfront plan
8GB - $80 per month = $1920
16GB - $100 per month = $2400
on a $100 or $80 per month plan for 24mts
Looking forward to what Vodafone and Optus come up with.
Trips: Oh Thank God that it’s not going to cost too much, ready speculation I was sure it would be costing a grand or more.
Hmm if optus and voda release in a big space of each other the last one wil probabky have the best plans. Personally I’m waiting to check all for prepaid before I decide which I’m going with. Though most likely optus because my Mum’s work is right above one.
