1.1.3 Hacked - Get the goss here
Thanks to one of members, Murty, we have been alerted to the first iPhone 1.1.3 hack that has been released. Saldy at the moment it is PC only as it relies on iBrickr but hopefully we will see a Mac version on the horizon.
To quote the author of the hack, “As all upgrades are risky, this one is doubly so. You may have to restore your phone using iTunes and start again if it fails. Make sure to back up first!“, and I couldn’t agree more. It took two attempts for me to get the hack working. And if it hadn’t been for my backup, I would have lost everything.
How does it work? Well here is what it does.
- iBrickr grabs the 1.1.3 iPhone firmware image and extracts, decrypts, and decompresses the disk image.
- Then it applies a patch, jailbreaking the disk image and activating it, and also installing Installer.app.
- It uploads this new modified image to the phone, as 113_upgrade_image.bin.
- The “1.1.3 soft upgrade” app flashes the phone with the image and reboots.
- You have a perfect, jailbroken, upgraded 1.1.3 phone, with all your settings and music intact!

the only problem for me is that i forgot to back customize and summerboard so now i have to wait for them to realease one for 1.1.3 did the same happen for you

I have a jailbroken 1.1.2 iPhone and did the 1.1.3 Soft Update via installer.
Everything is working fine, am on 1.1.3 Jailbroken and unlocked on Virgin Mobile.
Locate me is the only thing that doesn’t work.

My service here in australia is Three. Someone else has 3? How good it works?

iPhones will not work on the Three network as they are currently nt capable of working on the 3G network (the only one that Three supports).
Julian, I’ve been a daily user of this site ever since the beginning and the more i hear about the iphone unlocked, the more i think it will be worth it to simply buy on over the internet. However, my only concern, is the updating and worry that when new software become available, i wont be able to simply hook my phone up to ituens, however wait for the hackers version. And who knows how many updates there will be… Simply, I’m just a person in desperate want / desire of the iphone. But don’t know if to just wait it out for the release…

Glad to hear you are an avid reader! As for Apple Updates, you are sadly correct, the only way to update is for you to wait for the hacked firmware (if this iswhat you were asking).

Does someone use it on Three?!
are u serious rafael? it has been said thousands of times, NO. iphone reqiures EDGE networking, and can not use 3g, 3 only works on 3G. Is it clear yet?
