You can usually judge the success of a consumer product these days from not just looking at sales figurers, but also how the internet search trends shape up. The iPhone has had huge success here.
Google’s annual Zeitgeist report has revealed that the term “iPhone” was the fastest rising search term on Google for 2007. Not just in the US, but globally as well. It was also the 6th most searched term on Google news.
Also interesting is seeing how iPhone as a search term compares to the other leading mobile providers. Below is a graph showing the main mobile manufacturers and how their search ratings have been over the past year.
iPhone = Light blue, Blackberry = Red, Motorola = Orange, Siemens = Green, Sony Ericcson=Purple
While iPhone obviously peaked at it’s launch, we can still see a solid trend of growth while the rest have show downward trends. While these can be read in many ways and certainly aren’t representative of sales. It does show how the iPhone has grabbed the worlds attention.
